I started in post-production almost eleven years ago at a reality television company. Day one of my internship they asked, "do you want to work in post-production or production." Me: "Both." Apparently, that wasn't the norm back then, but they worked with me allowing me to shadow everyone, learn everything, and figure out exactly how a story came to life.
I began color correcting almost immediately then editing. I learned how to find the story in hours of footage, pace emotion, and make people care about what they're watching.
I then moved on to editing for Corporate and Marketing teams pivoting from telling a story in 30 to 60 minutes to telling a story in less than 5. I edited everything from social initiatives to steaming platform launches. I worked on content for executives, national campaigns, and presidential presentations. I got really good at taking raw footage and crafting a story. But then that question came back: production or post? I had 10 years in post. I wanted to try production, while in no way leaving post behind. So I bought a camera. And I started filming.
Since that day, everything has come together. Story structure, color, pacing, emotion, I was going into the field knowing how the story would play out in the edit. Capturing real emotion, real moments, and real stories. I am completely in love with it.
Now, I do both. I go on executive shoots as the editor knowing how to communicate to the camera crew what I'm asking for from their perspective and knowledge. I edit for corporate clients who are looking for someone who need an editor that can keep people watching. I film weddings. I run my own business along Florida's Emerald Coast. I travel. I tell stories that matter. And I would love to tell yours.
