Emme and Micah said their vows under a grand oak tree on the lawn of The Sanctuary Venue in Pensacola in private. Back to back, through tears and shaking hands, they promised their love to one another for a lifetime.
Micah did something I've not yet experienced. Before the ceremony, he pulled his parents aside for a private moment where he asked them to tell him all about their wedding day.
Obviously surprised, it was a delight to hear them reminisce about how they felt, what all happened all those years before. To me, this helped deepen the meaning of what the day is truly about and reenforced that this day will matter for the rest of your life. Not once did they mention the decor.
Savoring the moment of seeing each other for the aisle, Micah's feelings were booming out of him, it felt like he was doing everything he could not to run down the aisle to her. Emme, radiant and elegant, walked down the aisle with her father, eyes on Micah the whole time.
After Emme and Micah were officially married (cheers!) they rang the historic church bell at The Sanctuary, sounding the beginning of forever. Honoring where they came from, they stepped into their new lives together.
Their day was full of family and love. Emme's mother was calm, radiating, and inviting - not an easy task for a mother on her daughter's wedding day. Watching her and Emme together was beautiful. You can tell in the way they dab their tears the same, fan their faces, and giggle, they are very close.
Emme's father was comfort. You could feel the ease and warmth of their relationship. The rock that is always there. Never overpowering, forever constant.
This is what I love about weddings like Emme and Micah's. When you center your day around the people who shaped you, every moment becomes deeper. A groom asks his parents about their wedding day. A mother and daughter cry the same tears. A father steadies his daughter without needing to say a word.
These aren't just beautiful details - they're the foundation of what marriage really is.
That's the kind of love that lasts. That's the kind of day worth remembering.
